A massive demonstration filled with anarchist and leftist flags — in Ukraine, such a scene could be seen only in the drawings of David Chichkan.

And yet, one day this dream became reality — sadly, at the moment of saying goodbye to David.

David Chichkan was an anarchist, artist, and political activist. His art was always inseparable from his political views. All of his works embodied calls to struggle for freedom, equality, and justice, for social and labor rights, and for the liberation of all people. Because of his views and his art, he repeatedly faced censorship, attacks, and attempts to cancel exhibitions — yet he never abandoned his position.

In September 2024, David joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. On August 10, he died from wounds sustained while carrying out a combat mission in the Zaporizhzhia direction. His death is an immeasurable loss not only for those who knew him personally, but also for those who, together with him, understood freedom as equality and solidarity as a daily practice rather than a slogan.

“David continues and continues to live.” Joining these words of David’s wife, Hanna Tsyba, we made a short film about David. It is an attempt to capture his presence — one that endures in struggle, in the spaces of our cities, and in the striving for a society of equality.
