As a response to the challenges brought by the full-scale war, residents of one of Kryvyi Rih’s districts decided to organize themselves. The “Granny Battalion”—a group of activists made up of former factory workers, miners, teachers, and proactive elderly women—became famous for their homemade meals for the military in a matter of weeks.
In addition to cooking, the retired women sew bedding and clothes, and manufacture candles. Furthermore, they even managed to convince the local administration to provide them with a dedicated space in a former school, where they set up a headquarters for IDPs.
To find out what motivates these women not to lose hope and to continue their work despite fatigue and their own hardships, watch the new episode of the project Look at This!
