Our close friend, comrade and editor of “Commons” Oleksandr Kravchuk died

We lost our close friend, comrade and colleague Oleksandr Kravchuk, an economist and Commons editorial team member. For years, he has been a permanent editor and the soul of our journal.

Oleksandr (Sasha) was into hiking in the mountains, dancing and playing volleyball; it always seemed that he had more health than all of us combined. But on the night from Thursday to Friday, he fell asleep and never woke up again.

He was always cheerful, upbeat and optimistic. He firmly believed in a better future and did everything to bring it closer. Sasha's professional career took him from working as a railway conductor to earning a PhD in economics, and along his way, our friend always followed the principles of opposing injustice. As an economist, Sasha was working on socio-economic issues like inequality, tax havens, and the formation of debt dependency. He was the editor of several books on these subjects. Oleksandr's articles, some of them translated to English, can be found on his author profile on our website.

Sasha provided essential support for all of us and we can't imagine any situation in which he could let anyone down. His work has been a part of virtually every piece we have published in recent years.

We promise to find the strength to continue this invaluable work.

We express our sincere condolences to his parents, friends and relatives.
